Hello There!

My name is Matt Cambridge. I started this blog in 2016 when I moved back to the US after living abroad for two years and discovered a passion for writing. Here you’ll find monthly posts about my life: Work. Marriage. Parenting. Triumph. Failure. If reading my work helps you to laugh, cry, and think, I’ll be happy. You can read more of my work monthly at the post calvin.

The movements get bigger

Every day, it seems

As you shimmy your way towards life

And light

And we wait, patiently (some would say)

Though I don’t always feel patient.

Your mother is sacrificing so much

Her sleep,

Her comfort,

Her body

And sometimes I don’t know what I have to give

But enough about me

For now.

You are the light in our world

Everything got a bit brighter when we found out

That the first test

Was wrong

And we were three.

It’s difficult to think

That one day you’ll grow tall

And strong

And have many words of your own

Because now, today,

It seems you will be small forever.

The love we have for you

Is one we can’t grab with words,

Or poems,

Or essays

Even though

we can’t see you yet.

And maybe that’s what makes you so

You have instilled in us deeper

And Love

Without doing anything

But being yourself

And so you have also taught us

And for that, we thank you

And we love you.
